Okay, so I have not been updating this mainly because I am sick and back @ school. But here's a little review of what I thought of the season premiere:
Cold Open: This was absolutely terrific. Fey got Sarah Palin down to a tee. I liked that it wasn't totally anti-Palin, but that it got its message across pretty clearly. Seth Meyers wrote this one with input from Fey & Poehler, so props to them for getting the season off to a magnificent start!
Monologue: I rarely like the monologues anyway. The only one I enjoyed from last season was Steve Carell's. But yeah, this wasn't great. Nice appearance from Shatner though!
Quiz Bowl: I enjoyed this one. Everyone was great, especially Kristen and Will Forte.
"What started the first World War?"
"Boys and girls swimming together?"
Glove commercial: A little over-the-top but Kristen's facial expressions were priceless. It's no Annuale though.
Inspirational Song: Had I not seen the Peyton Manning one, this would have been good. But it just felt so recycled, and like they hardly changed anything. And Michael Phelps is not as good a dancer as Peyton Manning. Sorry.
Lil Wayne : Skipped this. Oops.
Weekend Update: Pretty good start. I liked Cathy and Nicholas Fehn a lot. However I hope they don't overuse either this season.
The Charles Barkley Show: I don't really know why they did this. To give Kenan more airtime perhaps? Whatever the reason, this was the worst sketch of the night.
Unos Waiter: I LOVED THIS. Bobby Moynihan is absolutely awesome, and certainly proved himself to me in this sketch. Dearly hope it won't be a recurring character and they can leave it alone, but it's inevitable it will turn up again.
"We have over 4 different flavours of soda!"
Kids at Bosses Party : Wasn't as funny as the Seth Rogen one, but the part where Stacia lifts the yodelling doll and Michael was was lifting weights had me in stitches.
Digital Shorts :Pretty poor in comparison with The Lonely Island's previous efforts. Wish they hadn't tailor-made it especially for Michael. Didn't really work. Hopefully, it'll be better next week.
T-Mobile 5 : Very funny. Great concept. Everyone did well in this sketch. And was it just me or did it appear that Kristen was wearing a prosthetic nose?
Michael Phelps Diet: This was awesome, but I wish that Michael hadn't fluffed up his lines at one point.
It was a pretty decent season opener. Michael did pretty well seeing as how he isn't any kind of performer. I thought he was pretty good in some of the sketches, and so will not be subjecting him to the harsh criticism others have been.
As Lorne Michaels said, it takes the crew a while to get into the swing of things, so I'm excited to

New Web-Series for Amy Poehler
As Amy Poehler prepares to leave SNL to join her new NBC comedy, and have her bambino, it seems she has signed on for yet another project! Starting in and around October, Amy will host a web series which will show girls with unique talents every week, in order to raise girls' self esteem. The title?
Smart Girls at the Party.
Seems Poehler is determined not to end up like these guys;

Sarah Palin watched SNL alright....
According to Star Magazine (the most reliable news source), Sarah Palin watched the recent SNL. With no sound on. Apparently, she couldn't bear to hear what Fey said about her.
Can't be certain this is true. But if so, it's delicious.

Amy Poehler in Men's Vogue
Short piece on Amy Poehler here in Men's Vogue.
And may I say she looks absolutely stunning in the shot they took of here.
From Men's Vogue:
No matter what happens in November, Amy Poehler's impersonation of Hillary Clinton on Saturday Night Live will be remembered as one of the high points of the 2008 election. Bossy, bouffanted, totally absurd, Poehler's send-up helped earn her an Emmy nomination, the show's first supporting actress nod in 30 years. It also managed to steer the political debate, lure Clinton onto SNL — excavating her sense of humor in the process — and give her campaign some much-needed oxygen. McCain and Obama may be safe from an Amytation, but their Secret Service details are feeling the heat: The Massachusetts-born Poehler delights in tormenting the grim-faced agents whenever the candidates make cameos. "They're pretty badass and super secret, and they just love it if you give them a nickname," she says. "Like, just call 'em Foxtrot, or like, Hey, Fireball. What's up, Danger Mouse?"
But after seven seasons on Saturday Night Live, she'll anchor her final Weekend Update later this fall and start filming a new mockumentary series for NBC from the producers of The Office. "It's gonna be really hard — Boyz II Men hard — to say goodbye to yesterday," Poehler says. "SNL was dangerous, late-night, last-minute, and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down." With luck, the new series could do for Poehler what 30 Rock did for her pal Tina Fey: crown her as primetime royalty. Before that happens, though, the 37-year-old is somehow going to find the downtime to give birth to her first child with her husband and occasional costar, Will Arnett. She insists their off-camera routines are more sit-down than stand-up (TV marathons of Locked Up Abroad, Intervention, and "really sad hour-long dramas") and that recently she's even been using what she calls the P.E. — Pregnancy Excuse — to duck out of parties early. Of course, the Baby Mama star knows that fertility can be fertile material. "My baby drops in October," she says, "and everybody's got to go out and get it."

Sarah Palin
As you may or may not have heard, Sarah Palin allegedly thought that Tina Fey's impression of her was "hilarious".
Well as the hilarious Amelie Gillette from the AV Club points out:
(1) Her reasoning is extremely odd. You found it hilarious because you once dressed up as Tina Fey for Hallowe'en?
(2) How did you dress up as Tina Fey? It's not like she has a signature cape or giant hairstyle that makes her particularly distinguisable.

Musica Guest : Lil' Wayne!
.. and your host Michael Phelps!
Yeah that's right, Michael Phelps is going to host the season premiere of SNL on September 13 with his favourite musician Lil Wayne.
This will either be a disaster or enjoyable. Either way, I am eager to see how Mr.Phelps will fare!
Last season, basketball player LeBron James hosted the season premiere, and while he was not so good at playing the straight parts, I really enjoyed his performance.

SNL Alum Victoria Jackson rants about Obama
"Respected" pundit Victoria Jackson let her crazy views on Barack Obama be known on her website. I put respected in quotation marks as I do not know in what circles Victoria Jackson is thought of as a respected pundit, and yet The Defamer refers to her as this. Anyway here's a snippet:
I don't want a political label, but Obama bears traits that resemble the anti- Christ and I'm scared to death that un- educated [sic] people will ignorantly vote him into office. My mom likes him because his children are well dressed!
You see, what bothers me most, besides that he is a Communist, and a whitey- hater, (although he is half white), is that he is a LIAR. He pretends to be a Christian and he incriminates himself everytime [sic] he speaks about Christianity. To lie about being a believer in Christ is very dangerous. Lightning could strike him at any minute! But seriously, he doesn't have a clue what the Bible says and yet he pretends to be a church- going Christian to win votes. That is sooooo evil.
I know my stance might keep me from LA jobs, since (almost) the whole town is liberal but, some time in a man's life, or a bleach blonde 49 year old woman's life, one must stand for what they believe in, and put truth before popularity.
Also, go to her website victoriajackson.com to read more of the same rant where she accuses Obama of not knowing his Bible.
And, Obama, when you say things like, "Sin is...being out of alignment with my values." That is a blaring siren of Biblical ignorance. The Bible says, "Sin is being out of alignment with God's values." That's like the number one lesson in every book of the Bible. You really need some help.
Yeah Obama, jeez, you really need some help. Go to Victoria Jackson and she'll clarify the entire Bible for you, because it seems to me you can't even tell your Old Testament from your left hand.

Movies out this weekend
SNL stars can be seen in a few movies that go on release this weekend.
THE ROCKER: Starring Rainn Wilson, The Rocker tells the story of an aging rocker who joins his nephew's band. Not getting the best reviews, but it stars SNL'ers Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis (who one reviewer described as stealing the movie).
HAMLET 2: Starring Steve Coogan, Hamlet 2 follows a high school drama teacher who produces a politically incorrect sequel to the Shakespeare classic Hamlet. While this has quite a low rating on iMDB (5.5/10), it has been getting good reviews and the Wall Street Journal noted that Amy Poehler makes a terrific appearance as a lawyer. This one's out on limited release this weekened.

TJ Miller wants you to know something..
If any of you read the report on E! Online, it went into how one comic by the name of TJ Miller allegedly blew his chances at SNL fame by acting totally obnoxious and turning Lorne off him completely.
Well TJ's hitting back at the claims that he blew his chances saying he just wanted to let the SNL crew who he really was and thus performed strange characters like a cool dude who's always on the verge of crying and an effeminate construction worker.
