Andy Samberg to Play A Stooge?

The Wrap is reporting that Andy Samberg is on the shortlist for the Farrelly Brothers planned Three Stooges biopic. Samberg's name was mentioned along with Jackass star Johnny Knoxville and Australian comic Shane Jacobson. At one time Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn and Jim Carrey were all attached to star as the famed comedy trio.

The Wrap notes that nothing has been confirmed, but an agency insider tells the online entertainment site that advances have been made, representatives have been approached and talks have taken place.

The plan for the film is to divide it into three, twenty-seven minute segments driven by physical comedy. The Three Stooges biopic is slated to start shooting March 14.

San Francisco Sketch Fest 2011

Every year, the folks who run the San Francisco Skech Fest book great acts, but this year they have outdone themselves - this year's line-up reads less like a typical comedy festival and more like a who's-who of comedy. Some of the special events include Inside Joke: Saturday Night Live: The Originals, which will feature conversations with original cast members Laraine Newman and Dan Aykroyd and writers Tom Davis and Don Novello, Airplane! Tribute to Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker, which will again feature an interview with the genius comedy team behind Airplane! and a conversation with legendary filmmaker James L. Brooks.

Of other interest to readers of this blog willl be Celebrity Autobiography which will feature Will Forte, Ted and Melanie which will feature SNL featured player Paul Brittain performing alongside his improv partner Jet Eveleth, Upright Citizens Brigade ASSSSCAT Improv featuring SNL alum Tim Meadows as well as Matt Besser, Matt Walsh, Ian Roberts, Andrew Daly, Danielle Schneider and Joshua Malina and The Thrilling Adventure Hour which will feature Neil Patrick Harris, Alison Brie, Colin Hanks, Craig Cackowski, John DiMaggio, John Ennis, Danny Pudi, Samm Levine, Donal Logue, Hal Lublin, Annie Savage, Marc Evan Jackson and Mark Gagliardi.

But all that just skims the surface of what this year's SF Sketch Fest has to offer. Go on over to sfsketchfest.com to see the schedule and stellar line-up of performers and click here for info on ticketing.

The San Francisco Sketch Fest 2011 runs from January 13-February 5.

VW Academy with Bill Hader -2011

This is one of the many videos uploaded by Volkswagen today over at their YouTube account featuring Bill Hader. Hader is appearing in a series of online promotional videos for the car manufacturer. This one is my favourite.

“I own Shakespeare’s bones!”
Congratulations to SNL's production design team Keith Raywood, Eugene Lee, Akira Yoshimura and N. Joseph DeTullio who were nominated by the Art Directors' Guild for Excellence in Production Design for Television in the category of Episode of a Multi-Camera, Variety or Unscripted Series for their work on Season 35's Betty White/Jay-Z episode.

Great work, guys!

Gwyneth Paltrow hosting SNL January 15

Gwyneth Paltrow will host SNL January 15 with musical guest Cee-Lo Green. Yesterday, rumours had circulated that the pair would appear on this weekend’s SNL, but this makes a lot more sense.

Cee Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow to appear on SNL this weekend?

Looks like it!

The unlikely duo look set to appear on SNL this weekend after Gwyneth Paltrow basically revealed as much during an appearance on Good Morning America this morning. Paltrow will appear alongside F*ck You singer Cee-Lo Green in an as-yet-undetermined context on SNL. Of course we all remember when Paltrow rather infamously covered Cee-Lo's hit song F*ck You when she guest starred on Glee this past year. Check out the video of Paltrow's appearance on Good Morning America after the jump.

Jim Carrey hosts this weekend's edition of SNL with musical guest The Black Keys.
