Jason Sudeikis Interview | Vanity Fair

Check out this interview Jason Sudeikis did with Vanity Fair here. Below is my favourite excerpt -

Most of my moves are from the early 90s, like the Running Man and the Roger Rabbit and the Cabbage Patch. Long before “What Up With That,” we did this scene called “The Hip-Hop Kids,” when Justin Timberlake hosted for the second time. I did this move where I’m doing the wave with my hands but my fingers aren’t connected. I remember Justin coming up to me afterwards and saying, “That was awesome!” That was pretty great. That’s like Muhammad Ali coming up to you after a bar fight and saying, “Hey that was a good punch. That looked like it really hurt.”

Don't forget - Jason's movie Going The Distance is out in theaters today!

Jay Pharoah Impressions (VIDEOS)

Below are two videos of Jay Pharoah doing impressions. The first video sees Pharoah do Jay Z and 50 Cent - flawlessly, I might add. The second sees Pharoah do Denzel Washington and Will Smith. Watch and be blown away.

Report - Jay Pharoah to Join SNL

Meet SNL’s likely new Obama - Jay Pharoah, a 22 year old Virginian who is reportedly finalising a deal to join the cast. Diversification - yay! Pharoah is predominantly a stand-up comedian but has an arsenal of impressions including one of Barack Obama. The Comic's Comic is reporting that he has flown out for numerous screen tests and meetings with Lorne and it looks to be just about a done deal.

Pharoah would be the fourth new hire this season alongside Paul Brittain, Vanessa Bayer and Tarran Killam. Pharoah could also become a breakout - impersonating the President on the world's eminent live comedy show is kind of major, no?

You can follow Pharoah on Twitter here.

Bryan Cranston to host SNL

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston has confirmed that he will host Saturday Night Live October 2. The actor, who won his third consecutive Emmy this past weekend, confirmed the news on ESPN Radio’s Mason & Ireland Show. Cranston said that he was “thrilled and excited”.
Just earlier this year, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan said that he was mystified that Cranston had never been asked to host SNL saying, “If Bryan hosted SNL, he’d hit it out of the park.”
Well, I could not be more overjoyed at this news. Cranston is probably the most talented actor working on television right ow and anyone who has ever seen an interview with the man or his work on Malcolm In The Middle, will know that he’s hysterical. Also, I just want to give kudos to SNL’s booking department for not merely going for two big stars for the beginning of the season, but for booking seasoned pros like Bryan Cranston and Jane Lynch who will actually make for great hosts.

Will Forte discusses leaving SNL | JoBlo.com

Will Forte spoke to JoBlo.com about leaving SNL as part of a profile they're doing and the site has posted an excerpt of their conversation in which Forte cites family as one of his main reasons for leaving -

"As we talk about his departure, the normally jovial and goofy star known for "SNL" skits like "Fart Face" and "The Falconer" suddenly gets serious. "Maybe it's because I turned 40 and I started getting very..." Forte takes a long pause and sighs before adding, "...introspective."
"I just wanted to be close to my family," Forte says, specifically mentioning his sister, a niece and an impending nephew. "If you really want to do good work there, you really have to give it your all and that makes having a life outside work kinda tough.""

On a positive note, Forte says that he doesn't plan on estranging himself completely from SNL saying, ""Oh my God, I would do anything ["SNL"] asked me to do! If they ever wanted me to come back and do a "MacGruber" for one episode, I would do whatever they want. I don't plan on being a stranger from those guys."

The full profile of Will Forte will be posted on JoBlo in the next week.

Heather Anne Campbell Hired As Writer

The Comic's Comic is reporting that UCB regular Heather Anne Campbell has been hired to SNL's writing staff.

Campbell has an impressive resume - she was the youngest student and performer in long-form improv God Del Close's final show, has performed with iO West and Boom Chicago in Amsterdam (like one Seth Meyers) and has had regular slots at UCB LA performing with Last Day of School and The Midnight Show.

Congrats, Campbell!

SNL at the Emmys

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards were held last night in Los Angeles and although Saturday Night Live was nominated for Outstanding Variety Series and Kristen Wiig was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, the show went home empty-handed with SNL losing to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Wiig losing to Glee star and future SNL host Jane Lynch.
Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig were both in attendance at last night's ceremony and I've included photos of the pair after the jump. Also included are photos from a pre-Emmys party that Lorne Michaels hosted on Saturday night.
