It has been announced that SNL featured player Jay Pharoah will appear on NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly. Pharoah, along with Bono & The Edge, Jimmy Fallon, Brian Williams, Antoine Dodson and Greyson Chance, will stop by the NYE special for an interview. Last year's special attracted 9.3 million viewers, so it is quite the platform for Pharoah!
NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly airs December 31, beginning in primetime at 10.00 -11.00PM ET and continuing from 11.30PM to 12.30PM ET.

Both Vanessa Bayer and Jay Pharoah were cited as being among the best performers of 2010 by The New Yorker. From The New Yorker -"Vanessa Bayer and Jay Pharaoh on “Saturday Night Live.” They are the two newest cast members to the venerable show, and the most interesting they’ve had in a while. Bayer’s take on a sickly sweet and craven child actor, not to mention her Miley Cyrus, are quickly becoming must-sees for anyone interested in brazen cluelessness, while Pharaoh, if given the right material—a bit of color-blind comedy, say, instead of blacking it up for the show’s writers, who have always dealt with race in a more or less stereotypical way—could evolve into an artist."

If so, Jay Pharoah is doing two stand-up shows in the city tomorrow night. The first one is at Jazzin, a new show hosted by comics Julian McCullough and Sean O'Connor. It's on between 8.30 and 10.30 tomorrow night at Jimmy's No. 43, 43 East 7th St. New York, NY. More info here.
Secondly, he'll be performing at Whiplash tomorrow night at the UCB. Ticket reservations can be made here. Admission is free, but hurry - Whiplash is one of the hottest comedy shows in NY and tickets go like hot cakes. Facebook event here.

Jay Pharoah talks to WaPo
The Washington Post reported Jay Pharoah's hiring to SNL last night and got to share a few words with the man himself. The Virginia native reportedly got noticed by SNL when they discovered an audition tape of his that had been floating around for a year or so. Pharoah kept mum on a lot of questions revealing only, ""I'm known for impressions and family stories."
The inevitable question of whether he would take over as SNL's resident Obama came up to which Pharoah replied, ""I just got here. I'm just trying to fit in. I don't know what's going to happen." Very coy, Pharoah, very coy!
His tone was markedly more excited on Facebook where he posted -
"I've been quiet about this bit hey they announced it. Im on SNL baby and thank you all!!!! I couldn't talk about it yall get it?"
Pharoah will make his debut on SNL along with Vanessa Bayer, Paul Brittain and Taran Killam when SNL returns September 25.

Jay Pharoah Impressions (VIDEOS)
Below are two videos of Jay Pharoah doing impressions. The first video sees Pharoah do Jay Z and 50 Cent - flawlessly, I might add. The second sees Pharoah do Denzel Washington and Will Smith. Watch and be blown away.
Report - Jay Pharoah to Join SNL
Meet SNL’s likely new Obama - Jay Pharoah, a 22 year old Virginian who is reportedly finalising a deal to join the cast. Diversification - yay! Pharoah is predominantly a stand-up comedian but has an arsenal of impressions including one of Barack Obama. The Comic's Comic is reporting that he has flown out for numerous screen tests and meetings with Lorne and it looks to be just about a done deal. Pharoah would be the fourth new hire this season alongside Paul Brittain, Vanessa Bayer and Tarran Killam. Pharoah could also become a breakout - impersonating the President on the world's eminent live comedy show is kind of major, no?
You can follow Pharoah on Twitter here.
