From the NY Post -

“Saturday Night Live” funnymen Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis took a mancation to Gansevoort Turks and Caicos to celebrate Forte’s 40th brithday. Witnesses said they spent most of their weeklong vacation sunbathing by the pool and boating. On Thursday night, Forte’s actual birthday, the pair sang karaoke at local Irish pub Danny Buoy’s, to which Forte came wearing a gold construction hat painted with the words “Will Forty.” The guys sang rock tunes including “What a Fool Believes” by the Doobie Brothers and “Wind of Change” by the Scorpions until 2:30 a.m. There was no sign of Sudeikis’ rumored new girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston.

My moment of glory

Jason Reitman producing adaptation of Simon Rich Novel, "Elliot Alagash"

Well, I reported this a few weeks ago thanks to my Tumblr friend Beth who got the dish on all things Simon Rich at a Q&A a few weeks ago (which you can read here), but now that The Hollywood Reporter is reporting it - well, I can't not report it -

Academy Award nominated director Jason Reitman has optioned the rights to the novel Elliot Alagash written by SNL writer Simon Rich under his film production company Right of Way Films. Reitman will be producing but no word on who will direct the project. Simon Rich will adapt the script.

I like the Rushmore-type vibe I get from Elliot Alagash anyway so I have high hopes for this as a movie. And if Rich is adapting - well that's got "satire gold" written all over it.

Bill Hader Talks Les Grossman Movie

From In Touch -

Bill Hader can’t wait to again be abused by Tom Cruise! The Saturday Night Live actor is looking forward to reprising his Tropic Thunder role of Rob Slolom, the long-suffering assistant to Tom’s burly, bald studio executive character Les Grossman, in the movie’s upcoming spin-off. “I love getting yelled at by him!” Bill told In Touch at the premiere of FX’s new comedy Louie at Caroline’s in New York. “Having to take that much abuse is pretty funny. It’s on a Mr. Smithers-Mr. Burns [of The Simpsons] level!”

So will the movie be a prequel explaining how Les got fat and learned how to freak-dance or pick-up where Tropic Thunder left off? “It could be set on another planet for all I know!” says Bill. “I know Mike Bacall, the guy who’s writing it, and they have all of those ideas. He’s an insanely talented guy — he wrote Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World with Edgar Wright and a great drama called Manic [with Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt], which Michael also starred in. We could be seeing some addiction and some weird stuff — but the dancing scenes are pretty mandatory!”

Bill is looking forward to the project not only as an actor, but also as a fan of Tom’s. “It’s just great watching Tom — even doing those characters again for the MTV Movie Awards was so much fun,” says Bill. “He’s such a hard worker — and funny, improvising lines — like when [Tom as Les] yelled at Jaden Smith and Will Smith said ‘Come on, man, he’s only 11 years old!’ and Tom said. ‘I don’t care if he’s TEN!’ Tom came up with that — on top of everything else, he’s really funny.

John Mulaney and Hannibal Buress at Just For Laughs

SNL writers John Mulaney and Hannibal Buress were out in full force at last week's Just For Laughs festival in Chicago. John Mulaney performed multiple times including at Ellen Degeneres' TBS Special while Hannibal Buress opened for Aziz Ansari. Both guys received excellent reviews throughout the week.
I've got photos of Mulaney and Buress in action after the jump.

Bill Hader Attends "Louie" Premiere

Bill Hader was in attendance at last night's premiere of the upcoming FX comedy series Louie. The series which stars stand-up Louis C.K. premieres June 29. Pictures of Hader after the jump.

Hannibal Buress to Perform at Pitchfork Music Festival

Pitchfork Music Festival has added four comedians to its ever-growing bill. The festival, which will be held in Chicago's Union Park between July 16-18, has added Wyatt Cenac, Eugene Mirman, Michael Showalter and SNL writer/stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress to its bill for Friday July 16.

If you don't already have tickets, there are still tickets left for Friday which you can buy here -
http://www.ticketweb.com/snl/EventListings.action?orgId=57762&REFID=p4k

The musical line-up for Pitchfork Musical Festival includes Modest Mouse, Broken Social Scene, LCD Soundsystem, Sleigh Bells and tons of other bands that I've never heard of but would expect Pitchfork to like.

Bill Hader - Narrator of Scott Pilgrim?

So, last week Scott Pilgrim director Edgar Wright tweeted that he was doing an ADR session with Jason Schwartzman, Garth Jennings and one Bill Hader. This sent the internet into a flurry, as Hader was not one of the billed stars of Scott Pilgrim and so there was much speculation about what Hader's roll entailed.

Well, Wright participated in an LA Film Fest Conversation last night and there, he showed nine minutes of Scott Pilgrim in which it's clear that Bill Hader is serving as a narrator for the film. From Cinema Blend -

Suddenly, a drawing of Scott pops up on the right side of the screen and a narration begins - most certainly the voice of Bill Hader. Reflecting on his last relationship, the narrator talks about how Scott got his hair cut right before his last girlfriend broke up with him, that it's been more than 400 days since his last haircut, and that he has since been cutting his hair himself.

Mystery solved!

Scott Pilgrim vs The World opens in theaters on August 13.

The Awkward Comedy Show

So, The Awkward Comedy  Show is a documentary of sorts which showcases the Awkward Kings of Comedy, namely Victor Varnado, Baron Vaughn, Eric Andre and SNL writer Hannibal Buress.

According to the Amazon summary -
Comic Marina Franklin interviews the Awkward Kings, whose ranks include alternative stand-up artists Victor Varnado, Hannibal Buress, Eric André and Baron Vaughn. The film captures their antics on and off the stage through group hang-out sessions, informal interviews and personal vignettes animated by underground comic book artists. While the Kings each have their own wacky style, they all have two things in common: they re all a little weird, and they all challenge our preconceptions of what black comedy is and can be.

Riffing on topics ranging from Shakespeare to science fiction, THE AWKWARD KINGS inject black comedy with a fresh and nerdy new style.

By all accounts, it's very good and it's available to buy on Amazon now at -

Do it!
